local bricks

can any one date the bricks from the first extension of chapel stores ?

Hi Carey,
I haven't seen the bricks in question, but they are probably from the Pocket Park brickyard which was in production over 100 years ago. The Chapel and Minister's house were built of those bricks which were plain without frogs or sand facing. They are larger and heavier than modern bricks. They have a lot of blisters and clinker inclusions. I used some of them in the base of the surround to the Village sign. My rear extension was also built of those bricks, and I have a few spare if you want some. The date of the chapel will give you a clue if you want a more precise date.
