That's a little harsh. He inherited a squad that had lost some serious stalwarts (Dave Mans, James Olszowski, Sam Deane, James Arlidge) and he had to get the younger lot up and running. It was exactly the same situation in 1999 (after Dom Downer, Phil Poynter, James McAdden and Chris Hitchins left). Many of you will remember that in 1999 the crew came last of the non-qualifiers for HRR. I confidently predict that 2003 will be a success with the extra experience that the Eight will have. Having had a limited connection with OSBC a while back, I for one wish them all the best of luck.
