Reading below, I noticed a message questioning ongoing interest in the OCRC. Which is a good point and I thought I'd respond with an update and put it to the top of the message list...
For the next month, don't expect to hear much (big exam for me in November) but I will try and get the Eton stuff on the web in the meantime (which was well attended and good fun by all accounts).
Thereafter, we'll be in touch with you guys who have expressed interest in joining the Committee and running the show (that's quite a few of you).
Think we might try and squeeze a dinner in too.
I have already heard from 5 or 6 people who are well up for filling seats in a Henley eight next summer. Keen to press ahead with this around Christmas time/new year.
I have spoken to Tim on the Cardinals going forward and our policy and committment. We agreed that the Cardinals needs to be something we can all 'use' as a facility to row and socialise when we feel like it. I think we will always have gaps in our schedule (2002 notably), but the idea is that the infrastructure is in place to pick it up when old chuffers spark up with ideas. The new bigger committee will plug many of the gaps and keep the ball rolling.
So, yes interest has dwindled and so has the admin, perhaps hand-in-hand. But we're back on line for a busy season. So thanks for the continued support folks... I know those of you who pitch up to these events or just keep tabs from afar enjoy the Club.
I am sure our fastest crew is yet to hit the water.
