I went to the library today and signed out two copies of THE AIRGUN BOOK by John Walters. One copy is the
4th edition and the other an old (blue) edition. There is a good bit of Weihrauch info in these books.
WEIHRAUCH HISTORY
-Weihrauch began business in 1899 making sporting guns and "Thuringen" brand bicycles until the 2nd World
War
-operations were re-established in Bavaria in 1948
-first airgun left the factory in 1951
-first airgun was a M35 which was a slightly different form of the current HW35.Had proto-type of rekord
trigger(perfected in mid-50s)
-HW made smallbore cartridge rifles one year later (1952)
-HW made it's one millionth airgun in 1983. This gun was a gold-plated HW35.
HW AIRGUNS
HW25- was a small junior rifle (being made again)
HW30M/II- perfekt trigger system
HW30S- rekord trigger, leather piston seals prior to 1983
HW35-Introduced in 1951. Proto-type of rekord trigger. Manual cross-bolt safety added in 1977. Piston seal
changed to synthetic in 1983 (serial #843636). Has rounded pistolgrip.
HW35B- Beech stock,cheekpiece,monte carlo comb
HW35E- Export model. Most attractive HW35 variant. Longer barrel. Walnut stock.Cheek piece. Palm

HW50- Generates 85% power of the HW35.
HW50M/II- perfekt trigger
HW30S-rekord trigger. Cross bolt safety after 1977.
HW50SE- front sight on ramp.
HW55 SERIES
-basically a HW50S modified with the addition of a radial lever on the left side of barrel block. Relies on weight
to reduce recoil.
HW55M or Match- squared beechwood stock
HW55MF- version of the HW55MM. Has detent-locked HW50S action
HW55MM- variation with a Bavarian stock.
HW55SM- Dating from 1956. Original version.
HW55T- Most remarkable gun in series. Tyroleon stock. High comb.
HW80 SERIES
-modernized HW35 with longer receiver and higher velocities
-to keep costs down the wedge-pattern breechlock of the HW35 was replaced by a simpler detent.
-has one piece cocking lever which somewhat weakened the fore-end (longer slot)
-revised pivot positions have greater mechanical advantage
Of course there are many other HW guns currently being made but this short summary gives a brief history.
