I am installing a sds EM 3E w/msd in my 16v Scirocco. My question is will I need a MSD tach adapter? If I don't need one I'd rather save the $40 for something I need. & for those of you that have the sds was the standard 6 ft of cable lenght enough to mount the unit in the car.

Thanks for any info,
Tony

you didnt mention what tach you were going to run. if its an autometer or equivelant, you wont need the tach adapter. theres a tach signal port on the msd box that you plug the wire into from the tach. i havent tried to mess with stock tachs before, i dont beleive they are very accurate. the standard sds will be plenty long for you to mount in the cabin where ever you want. you have to mount the ecu in the cabin, its not weather proof. i put mine underneath my dash against my firewall and ran my cable up thru the inst. cluster bezel and had my key pad up there in the bezel where i could see at all times. its hard to drive and look at it in your lap. cool thing about A2 bezels is that the sds keypad clicks into it perfectly and doesnt fall out over any kind of bump.

I ordered the SDS with the standard cable. I was going to try & use the stock vw tach. I am trying to keep the car a sleeper which is a little hard with the moster tach on the dash. Plus, I can use the $200 for something else right now. Turbo's can get expensive fast. Hey do you have any sample maps from your old projects you could email me? I know they won't be exact for my set up, but it would be a start. BTW thanks for the info & keeping this site going. If it wasn't for this site & the people on it, I doubt I would have ever considered stand alone management. Thanks.
