Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I just finished rebuilding a 2.016v. I need a rebuilt head, or direction where I can get one.
A little info though...
It was a 1.816v turbo, then #1 piston fell apart in 3 pieces. We noticed at the dyno that there were some wierd harmonic sounds coming from the engine...still made 261whp @10psi. However, the next day on the freeway...big time loss of power. Got me home though. Took the head off only to see nothing but part of the cylinder. Engine trashed...head trashed..valves bent and melted...greaaat, what next...
So for now I put an old borrowed head from a friend till he finishes his block next week.
Time is a bit of a factor during the week as I work 16hour days, so any info or help would be greatly appreciated. I live in SoCal if anyone in the area can source one for me. Thanks again...

If you could replace the piston & valves, would that fix the problem? If it would. It might be easier than getting a head. If that is a viable option & you need this piston, give me a holler at vw2morg@hotmail.com

Thanks on the offer, but I have extra 1.8 pistons. For some reason no one bothers with the 1.8 16v blocks. They are at the local pick your parts..cept for the heads etc.
I just fired up the 2.016v and took it for a quick spin, and what a difference between the two. Once I get the bugs worked out I'll be off to the dyno trying to eclipse the 300hp mark.

what did u have done to ur motor head wise? cams or anything. reason why i ask is that ur hp numbers i thought were impressive for 10 lbs. thats a good 40 more then what i got at same levels. where are u hitting ur peak power?

I was able to make that power with lots of dyno tuning. I made 209@1psi and 260@12 and 298@15psi.
I dont know if you know or not, but heres the specs:
1.8 16v, sds w660cc injectors, t3/t4, lightened flywheel w/unorthodox underdrive pullys, autotech cams. The engine was completely stock. I put it togethor in a weekend for a dyno event. We eventually wanted to see how much hp it would make stock. We couldnt go over 300safe hp. I eventually ran 13.00@109mph on slicks and 13.80s on street tires. It ran great till california 91 octane killed it. That and 8000rpm runs at the dyno.
It's all good. I just started a rebuilt 2.016v with stock head. I'll be taking it to the track in a few weeks to see how it runs. I also finally found someone to work on a head for me. Dropped it off today.
