My friend has an '83 gti we are about to put a ABA block into. We are going to use the original solid lifter head and cis fuel injection. Techtonics tuning says to use the audi 2.0l headgasket, but he would like to add boost in the near future so we would like to get the CR down to at lease 9:1. Is there a better head gasket to use? Should we just use two gaskets? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Corey

I would NOT use the stock metal 2.0 ABA head gasket with the solid lifter 'JH' head. I have this gasket on my JH motor and because the oil return port on the back of the head is a little too small (i think that's what we determined the problem was), the gasket seeps oil out the back a lot.

Maybe try the 2.0 16v headgasket. Two of em if you need to bump the compression.
