I am building a crossflow 1.8L because the price for parts were just right. Free. I have a few heads, and a few blocks. Money is spent on hardware and bearings and machining. Depends on money, I just saw a cross flow run 10's. I would say only you can decide on what moter to run the shit out of!

I am surprised that no one mentioned an A3 2.0 bottom end with 16v head. For those guys who have tried that combo, how is it compared to a 9A 2.0 16v ? Is it really worth the hassle or just find a stock 2.0 16v & use it.

Same shit i'd say, i only put it in because my oil pump got messed up and ate away my crank due to lack of lubrication, the ABA motor was free so i put put the 16v head on top.

16v oil pump!!

talking about 2.0 16v oil pumps, In the past I have lost 2 2.0 16v engines suddenly, both died apparently from oil pump failure.
Strange to say, I have had 1.8 16's with some major miles on them & never lost one. Has anybody else had a similar situation? I love the torque & power the 2.0 16 gives but I am a little scared of them now to tell the truth.
