HI,
Currently i own an e30 318i that i am building a motor for. Here is what the motor will have:
Oversized vavles
Titanium Retainers
Dual springs
Heat Treated Keepers
8:1 compression
Racing Bearings
K26 Turbo w/ 944 turbo dual port external wastegate
Stainless exhaust from head back
Programable fuel injection and crank triggered ignition
Thats just the shortened list.
My question is what heads fit what blocks for the vw's?
My girlfriend is getting a new cabrio, i want to put the 20v head on it and turbo it.
My one Brother is getting a mk1 scirocco and we want to use a 16v bottom end with a 20v head and turbo setup,
He wants to run 10's
My other brother is getting a corrado, G60 what can i do with that we need to lose the 8v and get 16 or 20
Thanks For your help

Hey what's up,
Cool and E30 318, the good ol M44 motor, careful with that coolant leaking problem that they had with the timing chain cover though. My understanding with the VW stuff is that the 1.8L single and dual cam heads interchange and the the 2.0L version of the 16v which came in the last A2 Golf GTI's all interchange and they are of the same family. the 2.0L single cam motor which to my understanding is not ever popular as far as the newer VW motors are concerned, can't use the 20v head, I don't think any of the parts from the previous 1.8/2.0L 16v motors will interchange with the 1.8 20v motor. So you're better off just getting a longblock. To verify these answers just go to VW vortex, I'm sure those questions will be readily answered by someone on there. BTW why are you running such low compression on that turbo motor? I would run a full point higher 9.0:1 and use less boost, so many guys run Mad low CR's and make the motor all boost, just my take on how I'd build it though. Hope this helps.
Peace Out,
Tee
