Peter, You are so right when you said that your past will always follow you.
I know that growing up in the projects made me a stronger person. I know that by having so many kids to play with made me a friendly and cautious person.
What do they say "I've been there & done that". That is so true especially when your kids think that they can hide things from you.
I had a great life in the projects ( 20 yrs.). I also had bad times, parents always fighting, very sad times.
But I have to say that all of my life experences came from my my past. Good & bad.
