A fairly similar piece was entered at Tupper Lake years ago by M. Watson I think and purchased by Dayton and Michelle and later "finished". It didn't win. Great movement and lines, both pieces his and yours, but no average comp judge would "understand" the artist's vision of leaving it in a seemingly incomplete stage. Scott, please don't start to carve to satisfy perceptions of judges. You're the artist, carve from your heart and stick to your guns. Maybe Michelle has pics of that other piece before and after she could post.
