Forum Guidelines

Just a brief explanation here of the "guidelines" for using this forum, and why. This is basically maintained in a PG format, it was created for use as a professional message board, and educational resource. Personal interactions and debates are a big part of that, and welcomed, as long as they are conducted in a courteous and respectful manner. Malicious comments or personal attacks will be edited. In other words, please keep it friendly!

Anonymous post's are discouraged. Many of the regular users on here have "pen names" and a new-comer may be confused by that. Please sign your words, nobody will take you seriously otherwise, and it encourages others to follow up anonymously.

Technically, this forum is privately owned (by the UCCG) but open to the general public. The general format & guidelines were discussed & agreed on by a small handful of people (including some of the founders of the Guild), and we still follow these guidelines. The only confusion comes along in the gray areas- and there are many. Basic standards like topic-related, no personal attacks, profanity (another word for bad grammar) anonymous, things like this are simple,, black & white for the most part. There are some other factors however which can only be explained by observing this forum from it's conception,, things that keep it healthy & friendly.

This forum hovers between 6 to 10,000 hits per day, and that is way more than a few people looking in a few times a day. I estimate that only around 5 to 10% of people looking in actually write. Some are on here every day, and others sporadically. Keeping this a friendly place is the best way to encourage others to join in.

Please remember to sign-in on the "where you from" link at the top of the page.
