NoiseBuster Active Noise Reduction Safety Earmuff

March 5 2009, 11:46 AM

Hi Fred,

In regards to the NoiseBuster ANR Safety Earmuff, we've been selling these for 10 years and they deliver the best hearing protection available. The product works in two ways.

First, it works like a normal earmuff in the fact that it has a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 26dB.

Secondarily, there is a speaker and microphone in each earmuff. The microphone listens to the low frequency noise that seeps through the muff. Low frequency noise from devices like saws, engines, motors, generators, fans, blowers, etc. have long sound waves and tend to pass through materials to one degree or another. That's why when someone is playing music in another room, you hear the base coming through the wall.

Anyway, the microphone listens to the noise and sends the information to a circuit board in the headset. The circuit board looks at the noise wave and creats a second noise wave that is opposite the first noise and sends it back through the speaker. The end result is that the second noise reduces or cancels the first noise.

Many of the top carvers at the vous purchased them and have told me how much they like the product and how well they cancel the saw noise.

Another important point is that you can plug your MP3 player into the audio jack in the earmuff. We provide the cable for you to do that.

Because we reduce the noise so much, you will have to lower the volume of your player by about 50% again protecting your hearing. I spoke to a lot of the carvers at the show and even though they wore muffs, because of the high noise from the saw, they had to crank up the music and that is just as harmfull to your ears as the saw noise. That's not the case with the NoiseBuster.

Anyway I am rambling on.

I am offering a special deal to all UCCG members. The normal price of the NoiseBuster is $149.00. Anyone calling me and saying that they are a UCCG member will get a 10% discount and only have to pay $135.00 plus shipping.

Additionally, for each person who purchases one, I will also make a $15.00 contribution to the Guild. So not only will you be getting the best and most comfortable hearing protection available but you will be supporting your guild and the Rondezvous at the same time. But you need to call to get the discount.

If you are interested, just give me a call. My contact information is as follows:

I finaly got a chance to give the noise buster headfones a good workout today. I used them a few hours on and off around saws before, but today I used them all day while carving. I have never heard my music as clear as it plays through the noise busters. Another benefit is that my mp3 player lasts about twice as long between charges because there's no need to turn it up to rock out. Bottom line is that I'm glad I bought them.

Got my Noise Busters!

May 1 2009, 10:16 AM

When I finally received my Noise Busters I was happily surprised to find they come with their own hard case. That's perfect for storing them in the Job box in my studio. Immeidately I installed the battery and played some tunes into them from my computer. Wow! The sound was great. Next I headed out back to test them while carving.

My first surprise was that contrary to what I'd been told by another carver, I cannot hear anyone talking when wearing my Noise Busters. I have some hearing loss which probably accounts for that. My next surprise was that, when I got my head too close to the body of my saw, the electronics cause a loud popping noise in the ear muffs! Not so loud that it would hurt my ears but it did surprise the heck out of me the first time.

Overall, I found the Noise Busters to be very comfortable and the electronics significantly reduced saw noise. All I need to do is stop putting my head so close to the saw engine...
