PECAN???

Hickory is in the pecan family and it's as hard as iron! Is pecan the same hardness? How did the sanding go? You have a nice smooth surface going on there, was it difficult ? Also you covered yourself for the most part having the wings make a continuous curve( for the most part) rather than vertical points. This is a thing that scares me about benches with pointed pine trees, etc, as they can poke someone good! Liability is ours( sayeth the court), kids have a nasty habit of climbing and tripping, etc that pointed things can be a danger.( Another of Doc's tips) Doc

Thanks for all the comments. Look forward to seeing yours Tom.

Doc, Not sure if it's as hard as hickory, but it is a pretty hard dense wood. It sands down pretty nice and smooth. I used the angle grinder with a 16 grit abrasive disc to get it down semi smooth and then sanded the face and certain areas with the sand-o-flex and other sanding tools.

Mike, I kind of fell into a lot of pecan in the last year. I do like the way it turns out. Nice grain and color.

Had a previous customer stop by today and saw it, and now he wants one. I seem to get more orders from custom orders that I have sitting out waiting to be picked up.
