The Get-Along-Gang Git-er-done !!!

Ahhhhh ...

It's been a fun and crazy month with a road trip to Iowa and back (crazy babeeeeeee !!!!!) and now a small get together with the Get-Along-Gang in the foothills of magnificent Mt Ranier ... what a blast !! Nick Bero carved the cutest cheesy bear carving EVER (in my humble opinion) ... and I got the ultimate compliment from his dad, the one-and-only incredible and ever humble Fred Bero, who said that for the first time EVER he was seeing an utterly unique chainsaw sculpture and it delighted him no end.
I was totally chuffed ... as was the lovely lady that purchased it and proceeded to phone all her friends to boast about it (and then she hung arond to chew the fat ... so to speak ... and meet with the carvers ... V cool !!). What a fabulous weekend ... easily the GREATEST LITTLE CARVING SHOW IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE UNIVERSE !!!!!!!!!!

Here is a small taste of some of the works present there.
Do you think you can guess which was my unique piece of the action LOL

Take care all ... carve happy ... and dont let the bastards ... I mean bad knees (or unfeeling, numb hands ... how sad) ... get you down !! XXX

But first some work by Judy McVay.
For those of you not in the know ... Judy has been a chainsaw carver and fine artist for over 50 years. She was one of the originals, way before carving bars and routers existed, and all the funky light weight ergonomically designed tools that we use today. One of Judy's trademarks throughout her long career is her use of paint and color, and her designs and signage and murals can be found both in countless private collections and in hundreds of public sites up and down the waest coast of the USA. Today Judy is still an avid and prolific creator of beautiful artworks, and with the collaboration of her son Boaz Backus, a professional life long carver and prominant auctioneeer in the industry, continues to produce her magic.

It was a dare ...

August 10 2009, 1:06 AM

Boaz and I were chatting and upon discussing some of my past works of art (I had a V stolen from an exhibition back in 2003 ... it can be foud on my website under 'exhibitions' in the Hardwood show) ... and he stated that he was surprised he hadn't auctioned one off yet ... I said "there is always tomorrow !!". No one thought I would do it ... so her t'is ... but it is the first one with wings.

I love a challenge LOL

Cheers ... Angie

Angie, wow that's so realistic I thought it was a mounted one. I saw one of those birds fly by the other day. Very rare here nowadays, nearly hunted to extinction due to excellent culinary characteristics, goes well with tube steak and white wine according to Mick. You captured the bird in its full glory!

Everything looks really nice.

Hey Angie, If you can get in touch with Nick and Fred, have them call me or e-mail a mailing address that I can send them some money for sales of their carvings. I just get a voice mail message when I try to call them.
If you don't mind I'd like to try a version of the Flying "V". You can carve my tongue and I will carve your "V". Sort of quid pro quo, right?
Looks like you are having a blast. Keep on being creative.
