Just put down with two hernias. The surgon repaired them last wed. Dr said not lift over 10# for 6 weeks. Has anyone else had this problem? How long untill you were back to full strengh? This may be one of the bad effects of heavy lifting. Any thoughts or information will be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that. I had a hernia repaired over 20 years ago and ever since then I've been much more willing to use machinery to do the lifting for me. Hydraulic table, 2 wheeled dolly, and tractor with front loader are all in my carving arsenal.
there,s congenitial hernias which are inheritated and will happen eventually lifting or not . then (acquired) which are from heavy lifting , keeping a strong ab wall is important. when i was an asst.fire chief our chief had two aquired hernias from lifting overweight patients which he was over 50 years old then and thats common in older guys lifting too heavy . a weight belt could support you some if your herniated in upper abs if you blew out in lower area time and healing usually people blow out one side then other side later so be-careful
stop lifting heavy stuff!
I had hernia repairs long before I started carving, then ended up having both sides done again a few years ago, which was most unpleasant due to them rippping out the old repairs. Even though everything was supposedly fixed, I still encountered significant lingering pain. I am now dealing with three herniated lumbar discs, and the rest aren't much better. My back was damaged before, but got worse after I had the belly problems. Point to note: I went to a carving event just after the doc said I was good to go post hernia surgery. Turns out he was wrong, I should have waited longer. Hurt for weeks afterward
