Anyone in the greater Seattle area?

I am new to small saws and don't know any carvers (I am a woodturner).

Are there any chainsaw carvers in the greater seattle area (I live east of renton) that run a 200 rear handle or other small saws (32cc - 40cc) they really like that would be up for a visitor sometime?

I would like to examine some more models of saws in person, including running them and feeling the balance and vibes (don't need to cut wood if that is better). I know there is variability between saws of the same model, but it would be very interesting to me (esp a 200 rear handle).

And if you want I could bring any of my saws for you to try out. They include 3200, 3800, 4000, 339NE, 346NE, dolmar 5100 and 7900s (favorite saws), 066, 395, 880, 3120s and even my ol MSE 220 (electric that I find handy).

Just thought I'd ask, as I am sort of in a vacuum here - although saws are one of my few vices. Thanks, Bill

no other carvers out there

You are surrounded by some of the countries best chainsaw carvers they just don't get out much what with that no shoes no shirt thing, very nice and talented people up there so join the Cascade Chainsaw Sculptors Guild,{top of this forum} pay the dues and you get a neat trade publication, new and apparently much needed new friends, you may have to grow a beard, not sure I haven't read their by-laws but why not, you'll blend right in.

This is a hard group to impress, so down play the hundred saws you own and show what you do with them!

Ouch.

Not trying to impress, but since I was asking to try a saw I thought I'd list some saws folks could check out if interested.

Thanks for advice and the info on the local guild. Might be a way to track someone local a bit friendlier and with a 200.

Bill

As R.L. said, there are a lot of carvers on the "wet side" of of the Cascades. I'm on the dry side happy.gif ... But if you want to meet local carvers, you can find them at Port Gamble in a couple of weeks. Or you could visit me in the Tri-Cities and carve something with my ms200.

Your local chainsaw carving group is at

and our forum is at

Don't let anything i post offend you, i used to take life serious but i can't remember when that was. you can haul all those saws to Texas and carve with me anytime, if you are short on time just ship them down here and i will evaluate for you,it's the liest i can do.

Stop on by,I run Husky 339 Xp.I have had them over 3 years now and not a bit of trouble. I don't run them because of the brand,I run them because I like the balance and power but, most of all they start when I pull on them.
