What type of small torch should I use? I'd like to get a torch that I can get a fine flame for tight spots. I have a large propane tank and torch for large burns and a small hand held propane but I don't get the flame control I would like. Is mapp better than propane?
Can someone steer me in the right direction? I've only used propane so not familiar with any other types of torches or gas.
Thanks
B.
Try to find a turbotorch, hose and tank on Craig's list. It's an air/acetylene set-up, really hot and has interchangeable tips in different sizes. I saw Bob King using one when I was first starting out and had to have one. Great for detail. I picked up the torch, 12' hose and 1/2 full tank for $100. Good luck, Mike
The question as I understand it is, what works in tight spots,(the bottom of a saw kerf).
Most fuel only torches will oxygen starve and extinguish in a confined space, I use my Oxy\
Acetylene welding, brazing tips , but it's a cumbersome thing to drag around .
I think all these responses were great! The Turbo Torch Mark mentioned is a great investment,
I have used mine for years , no problems! mine only runs on propane though. This torch is easy
to locate on a plumbing tool site, not sure about price, but it's worth it....I just don't want to
hear No ....I bought one for 100. bucks and got two free tickets to Disney Land and a Bass boat,
I knew your name was Mike when I posted, don't know where the hell Mark came from, sorry about
that.....I wished that spell check thing worked on names ...R.L.
