A pray for Dan Pierce

some of you may know Dan Pierce as the carver that chainsaws while setting down.
He has competed at the Valpo comp and converse comps and is a accomplished carver with hand tools and a saw. I received this email and want to share it with you all.
Please send your prayers to him and his family for a speedy recovery.

As most of you already know, my husband, Dan suffered a stroke with significant bleeding in the brain yesterday morning around 11. By the time he reached me by ambulance at Saint John's (where I work), he could not speak and was paralyzed on his right side. He was airlifted to St. Vincent Indy and was in surgery by 3 p.m. The neurosurgeon had a difficult time getting the bleeding in the brain to stop and they left the piece of his skull off so that any swelling would not affect the pressure on his brain.
>
> The CT scan this morning was much better than yesterday. Minimal swelling, bleeding stopped and the remaining blood disappearing nicely. He can follow commands, but is still very weak on the right side, although there is some movement there now. The neurosurgeon states that he is doing much better than expected at this point and they will wait a day or so before they try to do the angiogram to determine the cause of the bleed. The doctor thinks it is AVM which can be treated or even cured by injecting clotting material in the brain around the AVM and blocking it off from the healthy brain material.
>
> Right now, he is holding his own. He knows he is in the hospital and that he has had surgery but they are keeping him pretty sedated in order to keep his pressure down in the brain. All of your prayers, thoughts and support mean a great deal to both of us during this time and we are thankful that we have such wonderful family and friends.

Doug, that is too bad. I met him down in Valpo at the Duneland carving show. I remembered him when you mentioned he was the guy that carved sitting down. We'll keep him and his family in our prayers.

Dan, has stopped by the house and visited. I did a festival set up close to him, in his booth was a kid looking around, Dan had just whittled a wood spirit walking stick, he thought the boy was mine and gave him the stick. I said, no thats not my boy, and he said, something like "no difference or oh well) I hate seeing a empathic person in trouble, and hope he's out of it soon.

Have faith, God is taking care of everything. He always does. I am not sure what a AVM is, but recovering from brain surgery takes a LONG time. I had trouble with saw vibrations for a while, but all is fine now. Take plenty of naps, eat blueberries (they are natural brain restoration stuff) and keep the faith.

Bless ya all,
Bess
