55 Husky destroyed

Here's what can and will happen if we continue to use gas with alcohol in it.
Alcohol mixed in gas will mush up the rubber gaskets, causing leaks, and collapsed fuel lines, so it's good to avoid gasohol.

This is my 55Husky or was my husky. Now its junk.

As you can see in the first pic the head casket was weakened from the alcohol and allowed air to enter the jug making the saw run to lean. Eventually destroying the piston. Just to expensive and to old of a saw to repair.

Bob King wrote on a post a while back regarding taking out the ethanol from the gas.
Sorry about your saw Doug. I just laid to rest a Husky 61 only had 50% power. Mechanic said it was 2 electrical parts and it needed the engine and carb rebuilt, so on the shelf it sits!

ethanol removal?

October 5 2009, 2:13 PM

"Bob King wrote on a post a while back regarding taking out the ethanol from the gas. "

Steve,

I searched for this post but can't find it. Does anyone here have info on how to remove ethanol from gas?

In NYS all of our stations seem to have 10% ethanol and they are talking about adding more. Since it costs 29% more to produce ethanol gas than standard gas, I can't figure out the logic. Must be a tree hugger, green politician, feel good thing.
