you guys are true friends im trying to post some better pictures it,s always cloudy and raining so clarity is not up too par. i have been experimenting with ricks fur trick, but im still learning and all the carvers who want to stay out of the limelight i appreciate all the e-mails . i carved wild today i just cannot help it yesterday i did not carve or thursday had to go out of town. i spent 3 hours nearly on this creature which is a lifetime for me, i tried to go slow and did accomplish it some it,s 4.5 feet tall sitting on butt. i have a closer picture of 6 footer i did the other day.my critics say im a very crappy carver which is fine im self taught and been carving 1 year and 9 months but i do (carve and ALOT ) [linked image] [linked image] [linked image] [linked image] [linked image] [linked image]

there ya go buzz you did it i see alot more thought in that one then ive seen in a wile with your stuff i have a tip for ya your arms are close enough to
bears pose like you want the bear to stand and look where your joints are
use this method to get the shape of the bears arms hopfuly this will
get rid of the jelly arm syndrom that your bear has i used the same method
to help my bears with there stiff arm syndrom you can also mold one in clay
before you carve it you wont beleave how much it helps

remeber if it were easy it wouldnt be any fun john

Hi Guy!

Shit! It snodwe here!!! You're getting closer, just round off those corners on the arms etc. Yer fur is representative but functional. The head is kool! Just Kool! I see a lot of bears, and that passes. You are folky/ and cartooney, Good start. Think about the bulk on a bears body, don't get too lanky.I have trouble there, add more diameter than you think and make em fat! Nobody likes a starving bear! Ya did good. A lot of folks just don't get it, ( That it takes a lot of studying) to get a pleasing carving. It doesn't have to be so real( McKinnon style), or abstract( Picasso), Just giving the idea of a bear, and the appearance that jumps into yer head when you think"BEAR!" Doc

What Did You Say?

Buzz did you say Dremmel? I am glad that you mentioned using that tool. These types of tools help you a lot more than you realize. I wish I had the motivation to only do chainsaw like you, and I did at one time till I realized what the other tools can do for ya. One of my favorite tools is my mini grinder, I love the versatility of it and if you use the chainsaw attatchment on it you can realy detail furring. Good luck Buzz.
