Now that is art! Not pretty in the conventional sense, evocative and definitely provoking. A great play with contrasts of textures, solids and voids... not to mention the titles that accompany the sculptures themselves.

I for one think they are fantastic both in expression and execution. Good art draws you in or repels you out...you interact with it either way and it provokes a response. It will take me awhile just to figure out exactly what I feel when I look at them.

What is he trying to say or express? Is he twisted, perverted or just trying to get us to think? I feel like he accomplished his intent regardless. They certainly were not impulse carvings or quick carves. Those are well thought out and meticulously executed works.

Thanks for the link and for the inspiration to do better with my work.

I agree Stave.

I love Big Macs and chocolate shakes....Good food!
I think Disney does great art....wonderful wildlife, funny characters.

I love things that make me smile.

My opinion is that both life and art go beyond that. There is pain and darkness, denying this only makes the good things and light... bland. My life has had horror and pain and will end in death, it has had joy and love and goodness. I am touched and affected by art which include all these things.

I think about carving not so much as cutting wood but light and shadow, expressing contrast, image and feeling.

I choose to see it all without filters over my eyes, seeing the world the way it is, as much as I can.

Big Macs are good, there is more. Bears that are cute and smiley make me smile but there is little truth to them. Bears are cute and funny but are also horrendous predators.

Wolves taking down a moose is a scene of joy and terror depending on your point of view, I choose to see both without judgment.

I love art, from all sides. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't. Good Art to me is not just saleable but lets me see artists vision.

Quote...Most people walk through life asleep. Those few that are awake live in a state of total amazement.

Just some thoughts from a damaged mind....

Well said

Well said Bob,I agree with you completely. I like happy, cute objects and I am also stirred by darker items also. The tomb of Pope Alexander VII, by Bernini comes to mind with the skeleton floating up from the drapery by the doors holding a hourglass. Times up....death is a part of life. Some may view it as unpleasant and ignore it, but it still is there. I want to embrace all facets of life and I do find amazement in even the smallest of things.

what i like about art it can be a drawing on a cave wall by a cave man with a brain the size of a walnut .or it can be a painting on a ceiling done by a man lying on his back for years. it can be brands promoted as art and actually displayed and created in a artistic way.it can be bike handle bars put on a bike seat and called art. im glad creators of there so called art will not be pigeon holed into what is deemed acceptable or artistic. if you lay out a pattern and carve are you a crafter . really what im saying is the glass half empty or half full ? there are many roads leading to one destination you decide the one you take . you can be a ship without a rudder like me but i can also build one and reattach it then steer my destiny. and when i want the trade winds to decide my fate i can bust the rudder back off. you could eat your paint or wack your ear off and send it as a gift. you could be a revered painter of light succesful in your lifetime . you could be a great artist with mechanical drawings of things imagined ,and if you know who all these folks , your a conoseur of art history.
