Yesterday I the flat spring in the handle of both my MS 310 AND my MS 200 sprung. The 310 was purchased in Aug and the 200 in Sept so they are both new saws. Granted the warranty covered things, but for new saws and both the same part of the handle. Has anyone else had similar experiences.
I gotta say I feel pretty left down, I never had problems with Shindiawa or even Poulan.
The only spring that ever gave me a problem on my 200 was the
starter recoil spring I bent the end back and then I took a small wire tied it around the spring to the case it never came loose again .
I have a t200 that is over 15 years old still running like a champ
I think it might just be a fluke.
I have six Stihls that I use.
Been carving a long time with them.
Never had that problem.
Once in awhile an oiler problem... but nothimg else.
husky has a similar spring mount system on thier saws which has a habit of breaking if you put too much pressure on it. not being a wise ass, but look at how you sharpen, as it sounds like you have to work the saw harder to make up for a dull chain. if the problem was only one saw i would say that the spring was faulty, but two different models makes me think otherwise. I use mostly all stihls these days and haven't had any spring mount problems. look at your sharpening technique and see if you can tighten it up, which in turn makes life easier for you and your saw.
Chad, the problem is not in the spring mount, it is the flat spring that provides resistence in the trigger mechanism. Sorry if I didn't do a better job of communicating the problem.
