It did really turn out good as far as timing. Pretty funny this just happened to be the day that they were putting on the 8,000 pound bronze cap on the dome . The crane put it on 5 minutes before we unveiled. I don't think all those of politicians would of be standing under a 99 year old glass dome as 8,000 pounds was laid on it if it wasn't for the unveiling.lol Police chief asked me if i was Forest Grump or something how i timed this lol In hindsight I wish I would of taken a group photo but waited for it to clear out before I started taken photos . local politician said a speech before I unveiled it and made the world shortest speech. "Um... than you " lol Live and learn. Was funny also this courthouse really works the Laurel wreath so the carving fit in like it was meant to be there. The guy who commissioned it also surprised me and flew in from New York. Really cool.
Sorry for the delay on the update post. Learned much on many levels on this one. (business/and personal for real !!!) Want to learn more.
Oh also there's 13 stars and stripes on the shield of course but i laid out the stars on the bottom of the robe to come to 50 and there's another 13 on the clothing that come up behind the sword.
Geeze that was a quick breath of fresh air lol Already getting my ball$ busted on the mermaid. lol Oh its happening. I have to do a couple "bear batches" To catch up on bills but curves are coming. oh the life of the artist..........wouldn't trade it for nothing.
Cassie I'll sleep well tonite but funny since it finished i don't feel to burned out which was the case a week ago now I'm charged!
Oh and I'm the worst speller. My speech was "Um,.... Thank you" not than you lol
Thanks Angie I hoped you like the paint. Much too learn. This was latext house paint. hard to blend. Wish it would of been artist oils. But it might be outside at times.
Your attention to detail is awesome. You have put every aspect together, up to and including the painting. Your the Michael Angelo of sculpture of our time Josh. That needs to be on the cover of Chip Chats and Woodcarving Illustrated.
Josh what can I say that hasn't already been said. Incredible that after a job like that. That you would still have to worry about bills to pay. A masterpiece like yours should be much more hansomely rewarded. But that just goes with the territory.
Keep on maken em.

Wow, that turned out great. I think got got WAY more than they commissioned. They should kick in a bonus at least as large as the original commission. That's beyond words. Can't wait to see what you do next. Mike
Hi Josh, Congratulations! What an accomplishment!!! To have completed a Masterpiece and have it displayed in such a prestigious and honorable setting, It does'nt get much better than that!!! Well deserved! Richard Yates
Thanks again everybody. Really glad to have it finished. Going back up to take it to the shippers then I'm truly done. I'll feel even better once its at its home. On to the next project.
I'm in awe of your talent Josh! You have courage just doing it knowing where it would be unveiled and displayed. It's really amazing, congratulations. I hope to see it on the cover of chip chats too.
All you need to do is submit it to chip chats. They decide who goes on the cover but I agree with Jim ,It deserves to be there.!!If you need the address give me an e-mail.
