I forgot to mention that this was carved for a friend with a Roadrunner. She is putting this in her back window to show off her spirit. Been awhile since I posted, miss talking with the Chaz Crazies.
in the early 80,s 6 of us were riding in a road runner with the windows down at 135 mph in the winter. the horn would actually go beep beep the scary part was the mtn roads and the drunk driver back then there were only (3) 1/8 and 1/4 mile straightaways. great job on carving brings memories back
doc if my memory serves me right the super bird had 220 on speed odometer i think the dodge daytona and superbirds were the reason nascar adopted small blocks than wild bill from dawsonville caused restrictor plates. not sure guessing but any car from the late 60,s usually produced 100 more horsepower than what was listed due to insurance companies cracking down. the 428 super cobra jet was listed at around 335 hp probably really 450. my grandmothers 69 mercury marqui grocery getter had a 429 in it back then blue haired ladies had more horsepower in one car than a whole wal-mart parking lot now.
While in Nevada recently we saw a live road runner, in Don's sisters back yard. They are suppose to be good luck.Just thought I'd share that info....
Cool carving, your friend should love it.
