But why is the EPA going to ban it? Maybe we should stop using it? I'm still somewhat young (early 30's) but have been carving since my teens I hate using anything oil base anymore. I do a little but i want to live.

my Father, a materials engineer, was asked by his company to find water based products that will do what the oil based ones do. After months of study and research, he could not find anything that came close that wasnt more harmful to humans then its oil based counter part. Just because you can clean it up with water doesnt mean you should. You can reclaim solvents, but what do you do with the water?

yap Ron ACE brand

we been using it for a couple years now and we love it. It covers as well as any spar varnish, and we've used that for years also. And your right, its about half the price of spar varnish. I get it for about 18.00$ a gal.

We put one coat of sanding sealer and 1 coat over that with Log oil. If ya dont use sanding sealer then it takes about 3 coats of log oil to get the same effect. That may very some depending what kind of wood and how dry it is.

I know guys that if ya breath something long enough there will be some adverse effects to follow. Kinda like smoking. But if your worrying about it, ya might want to put down that saw. The carbon ya breath while running the saw will get ya in the end anyways. Plus its like running the saw, never do it in a closed building, same goes for applying the furnishings.

As far as if the EPA says its bad. I have my own feelings about the credibility of that Gov organisation.
