I am in the process of developing my carving pit since my recent relocation to our new home, and am interested in seeing some of the more acomplished carving pits out there. Also any kool inventions you may have for handeling and moving those larger peices. Not all of us have the funds for skid loaders or tractors!

log mover

I'm new to carving and have a similar problem. I live in the city and hence have no room to move about with a tractor. I built a log mover that seems to work quite well for small to medium logs. It utilizes a small pick up crane, the base of which is mounted on my utility trailer. Pics are posted. It is as easy to move as a pallet jack. Maybe others will share their methods also. I would also like to see some other low buck movers. Fred

I used to have a 12 foot trailer I built with heavey channel
I doubled up the center welded in a 4 inch pipe then found a heavey duty pipe that fit inside it I had a grease zurt in the bootom coupler it also had a bottom welded in it

I attach a boom to the pipe and a eletric boat winch being in the center
I could load logs straight over the back or from the side
I had a small block n tackle I ran the cable thru .

Work for loading logs carvings what ever I could swing it out to the side and stand carvings up as well .

That was before I started getting equipment

I look for photos it was many years back
