I went into a carving store in Gatlinburg and the smell of smoke from the owners smoking in the store was so horrible I had to run outside, TN has a law no smoking in store restaurant for a reason now who wants to buy a stinky carving or any thing. Why do you store owners just think of yourself' s ? you think people can not smell that ! you think its your store and we do not care and will do anything we want. well I am sure your sales are down way down, just my opinion

Denial

yes it is a known fact and a lot of us are highly allergic to cig smoke it is a fact that items in a store full of smoke stink and smokers just can not smell it because your noses are ruined from the stench of your poison. Its your loss of business not mine. I don't give a crap on your loss

Sylva its called a personal chose. Something that is almost eliminated in our society today, and I believe the government should stay out of our personal chose.
I don't smoke and understand where your coming from, the smell is unbearable for those that don't smoke. But I feel we all should have the chose of what we do or don't. Like you say there business will be slow if they count on non smokers.
But in that area almost everyone smokes or chews.

Its basically the tourist and out of towners that would have a problem and that's what keeps the businesses going, so your right they wont last long. If there down town they wont last long no matter what they do. I have seen a lot come and go but non have stayed long.
The place to be is just out side of town like most are. There are several that have been there a long time. If they get business its because the people are looking for them for the sole purpose of getting a carving. In that environment the smell is masked by the smell of gas, oil, saw dust. So no one complains.

I have found that if your wanting to be known as a great artist at chainsaw carving your ether living away from home on the road, personally wealthy or a starving artist.
If you want to make 6 figures a year then work it like a business. Very easy to do and in 20 years you have made a couple mill.

I can start the small stills OK but if helps around they can start it for me. i'm not afraid to ask for help, that's for sure but it's hard to totally stop curving I can only last about two hours a day if that and can't carve every day. hope your feeling better Art, its fun getting old! and worn out!
