Response to Hi Volume Oil Pump??
I use the hi-volume pump in a street application. I did this because with the old pump the pressure was so low that it was below the scale of the pressure meter. Maybe the old pump was just gone or it says something about the (worn out?) state of my engine. With the hi-vo pump pressure is in the middle of the scale.
I am not to worried about emptying the oil pan because I replaced the stock pan for a 9 qt milodon pan. Also I put about 1 qt of oil more in than the max reading on the dipstick. This seems weird but I read they also did this for the Boss 351: recalibrate the dip stick and put an extra qt in the stock pan. The only thing I don't like about the milodon is that it doesn't have baffles. My stock CJ pan did have them.
