Response to Your gonna need 550- 600hp
...will touch the 6's (in the 1/8th mile) in a 3200 lb (plus driver) Fox body with 4.30 gears and a 5-speed launching on ET Drags. That's with a little 347 SBF that dyno'd 490hp with too small of a carburetor. It will pull the tires for a nice little distance. As a matter of fact, the driver has to lower the shift point by about 1500 rpm for it to run competitive 7.50's without breaking out. It peaked on the dyno at 6500 and he's shifting at 5500-5700.
I didn't see where you're located, but I would say that it wouldn't be that hard to touch the 11's with a good solid combo. I can certainly spec the camshaft and I don't think you'd need to spin it to the moon to get there.
Keep in mind that race engines are easier to build than "street strip" engines. A lot of guys want to be able to rip and tear at the drag strip, but drive the car down to Hardees for breakfast on Saturday morning, on pump gas, with a clean idle, and 14 inches of vacuum to run their power brakes. Sometimes you gotta give a little to take a little.
