| First of all keep in mind that my car was a NHRA legal Super Stock so I was limited to stock 605 cfm Motorcraft 4300a carb and stock stroke, .070 overbore, flat top pistons, and many other rules to somewhat limit performance. Both cars also weighed 3500 lbs with me in it. My 70 Mustang went a best of 10.53 in about 1993 or 94 and my Tbird that I finished in 1997 went 10.60, both with the same engine combination. I would usually shift at 8000 rpms and go through the traps at 8000. I would leave the starting line at 8800 when the traction was good. I was fast enough at the 99 Nhra U.S. Nationals to win class with 2 other brand x cars in it( both were very heavy hitters at the time) and went through teardown and certified legal. I also got married in 2000 and built a new house and that slowed down my race program alot. I havn't run the car much since then and when I did I had some problems with the Motorcraft carb that slowed me down. A few years back, I talked with a friend that runs the 4300d carb and we discussed what I think was the problem but I have not had the car out since.
