As regular readers are aware from my posts over the few years of being here I have very little success when it comes to getting people to do their jobs in exchange for paying them to do it. Most people I know blame me for having unreasonable expectations.
The latest episode started about 7 weeks ago. While cutting a pattern for a pattern shop that has me do work for them the Y-axis controller faulted out. I swapped the X and Y axis controllers and the problem followed the controller. So, it's not a motor issue, or ballscrew issue. I called a repair facility in Niagra Falls, NY to see about getting it fixed. Turn around time is advertised at 5-14 days. Pretty standard. I sent the part by UPS on March 30th. It was tracked as recieved on the following Monday 4/2. I called them and confirmed its arrival. Part recieved. A few days pass. I hear nothing. I call. The blizzard of BS begins. On 4/18 I finally get a quote. This is after several phone calls and even one to the Niagra Falls Police to inform them that I just may have to come up there and it would be wise to have an officer with me. They were happy to assist, if needed. On 4/19, when I opened my email to find said quote, I immediately accepted and confirmed the price and approved repair to begin. On 4/20 I emailed and asked for a completion estimate. You will notice they are past the 5-14 days already. Several phone calls are made and on 4/26 I got an email response to a call that promised the part the middle of the following week (5/2 ish). That never happened. On 5/11 I emailed this company (Ampion Industrial Servo) and told them that if my part was not returned to me immediately I would turn the matter over to my attorney and the law. No response. Not even a "screw you." On 5/15 I explained the matter to my attorney and a letter was emailed informing them that if this was not finalized then they would be hit with a stolen property charge. (I think grand larceny in the 3rd degree is applicable here.) No response.
Looks like I'll be making a trip.
Any NY attorney here? Prosecutors? I really don't want to end up in jail for executing justice.
