Any issues with heat cycling and the bore sleves etc?

Just think a stroked CHI 2v all alumimun say 500hp engine in my 70 cougar would be sweet!

There are plenty of aluminum blocks on the street. Why would you think that Tod's block would be any different?

I sure hope so

October 22 2008, 8:06 PM

Because my plans are for an Aluminum block, CHI heads, roller cam, tri power, street machine. Even put the deposit down on the block already.

I am thinking stroked and in the 425 to 450 hp range if possible. Needs to be 'drivable' on the street with some level of civility. Will need one of the builders on the forum to step up and build it for me....

wheel or crank HP

October 24 2008, 1:18 PM

It would be hard not to make 400-450 crank HP with a stroker/chi head combo. The 408 in my cougar is very well mannered and made 415 rwhp. CR is about 10-1 Idles at 900 rpm runs on 91 octane. I run a single electric fan and temps hold at around 190. If I could only learn to drive the damn thing at the track! Best 1/8 mile time is 8.13 @91.7mph with a 2.26 60ft :{. Stick shift car. Weighs 3680 w/me in it

How much lighter is it than a stock Boss 351 4 bolt D0AE- L block.

A raw casting...

October 24 2008, 3:29 AM

weighs 89 lbs. I haven't wieghed the machined one yet but I would estimate it at around 83. Then you have to add sleeves that put it back to around 100. Plus caps. If I can remember, I will weigh the machined one. Email me privately and make me do it.

4.125 bore

October 24 2008, 12:41 PM

Will these blocks take a 4.125 finish bore? I would like to have 400 ci but I like to rev high so I don't want more than 3.75 stroke and a long rod.

The sleeves...

October 25 2008, 4:03 AM

have a body OD of 4.25. I will leave it up to the individual if he wants to take the bore out to 4.125. The cylinder body in the casting is 4.45 if I recall correctly. So, the sleeves are well backed.

Having trouble...

November 7 2008, 3:24 AM

getting castings. My foundry is busy and they are setting up to do aluminum. They are waiting on parts for their de-gassing equipment. I will be making parts soon. Just can't do it as soon as I want. Very frustrating!!!!

Getting in on the alloy block action

November 12 2008, 12:22 AM

Hey Todd,

Have been following a while now from Australia and am excited about the progress. I have finally managed to work out how to join the forum so that i can ask how i can go about getting one of these alloy blocks (i have an XB falcon coupe to put one in). Will there be an Aussie distributor or are you selling direct. I know you were seeking deposits from long time members of the forum a while back but as i am new to the game where is it all up to.
Cheers Mate

Tod when you start the production of these blocks will you be making a number of them or are they Just production to demand. I am interested and once you get things rolling I will most likely put in an order for one how long is the waiting list. Once your production starts how long would it be from order to delivery
