What do you guys think about building clevor motors? A mock boss 302 would be sweet or even a 331. Plus it would solve the oiling problems with the 351c. You also have more roller cam choices. The only problem I see is it makes most of it's power around 7000 rpm. Not that good for a street car. Any thoughts?

clevor

I am also thinking of a clevor, for dirt racing, maybe a boss 302 or 393 windsor. The 302 is so much lighter. Probe makes 347 clevor pistons also.

How about a 21100 or 21110, do either of these have a dome and how much cc?

Boss Pistons

Hi James!!
When you purchased those pistons, I didn't realize (or I forgot) that you were from this site.
That part number is about $546 for a set. They are a flat top piston.
We can supply you a special piston if you want a dome or any other request. I would have to quote it for you.
They are not as much as you may think. I think that is what James is talking about. I think he requested
a different pin length to go with a set he already had.

I've put together quite a few Clevors, and am screwing 3 more together at the moment, though slowly. That's not counting re-doing my Boss 302 again. I love my 351C, but feel the Clevors are preferable in some cases. You can use parts to make one get max power at 7,000 alright, but you can also select stuff to make them as smooth and silky as a Russian Blue...although one much stronger than the average kitty-cat. My last little Clevor (.020 over 302 w/ 2V heads) was done at 6,100, while the bigger one in the garage now (.020 over 351 w/ big flow number heads) should make useful power up to at least 7,200, with a projected shift point of 7,600.
Tim Meyer is making it easier for Cleveland, small Boss and Clevor nuts with his piston sources. I just got some from him for my Boss a short time ago, and although I don't know anything about the actual manufacturer, the pistons are really nice looking parts. Thanks to Tim for making these things available for a reasonable price so we don't have to make do with modified Yates/NASCAR cast-offs, 30+ year old factory parts or expensive customs. He didn't balk at the sorta odd-ball combo of features I asked for, and the maker did a pretty good job of living up to them.

We have built many 331 , 374 and 363 mock boss 302s. They work very well. We are doing alot of R&D on one right now as this is our 2009 engine masters entry.
