How many of you run locked timing? What do you have it locked at?Open or closed chamber heads? Also cranking compression?

Mine runs best at 40 degrees locked and I'm not sure why!I have flat tops with open chamber heads.

Locked up

January 28 2012, 10:20 AM

I run it now on all engines. Both the 2V open and the 4V closed liked 36. The 302 in the Falcon right now likes 32. Cranking compression on the 2V is about 145 and on the 302 it's 150. Never got around to doing it on the 4V before it died - liked the way it ran, so not a priority to test.

Boost

January 29 2012, 10:20 PM

Sorry about that last post I sent it with my phone.

My setup is a 1972 fastback with 3.90 gear 2800 stall built AOD 4v OC heads running a procharger p1sc and a blow thru carb on 10 psi.I use a wideband afr gauge to tune the carb but the timing is NUTS. It runs best at 39 degrees locked. Which still isn't that great. My best run is 11.6 at 121mph with a horrible 60ft cause I spun.

I just figure I'm down 50 to 100 hp somewhere.Maybe it's the 2.5 inch exhaust?
