this happens 40 miles from me

this is a very cool event that happens out in the middle of nowhere in the sandhills of nebraska. they have half mile, mile shootouts, and a open road race cant remember how many miles that is , a car show. this all happens about 40 miles from me. the 158 mph in the 1 mile shootout from the panter is cool.
about 4-5 years ago my friend shawn peterson took his 72 mustang hardtop out for the shoot out. a .030 11 to 1 cleveland with a set of open chambered heads a custom ground cam by scott main. nothing exotic weiand x-celerator intake 750 holley. C6 and a set of 3.50 gears. not sure of the details, its been awhile. his mustang ran 133mph, i cant remember if it was for the 1/2 or the one mile. anyway he was 2nd in his class, he got beat out by a newer corvette. not bad considering. the car was build to play with on the street.

so what would the ideal setup for this be?

what are the classes, could a '69 BOSS 302 be competitive? Maybe a 6 speed and some 3:00~ 3:25ish gears?

depends on what race you wanna do

the half and 1 mile shootouts could be just about anything. lots of horsepower and some areodynamics
a couple years ago , someone bought a ford lightning pickup the 99 and newer styl, i heard it did really good.
there are lots of vettes, and some vipers that show up. I think a ford gt would do really good there. been a couple years since i been up there. maybe one has showed up, i dont know. might be interesting to see what a 2013 shelby gt 500 could do, or maybe a new boss 302 , with a performance tune.
if you are looking old school ford how about a 69 torino tallegedga, worked over of course areo mods, and a 427 sideoiler high riser, tunnel port or 427 sohc or one of jon kaase new boss 429 engines. now were talking
