Tribute to Teatske

My name is Michelle and I would like to tell you about a filly who changed my life. She was born in May of '98, and I was there in the early morning hours after. I do not own a horse, nor did I have one then but the filly, soon to be named Teatske and I connected. She was small and delicate, but curious about everything. In the morning hours she let me touch her, and from then on we were friends. She taught me that:any patch of grass is great to rest on, but only the sweetest could be eaten, munch your grain really fast and maybe they'll give you more,be friendly to everyone, even big dogs, don't be afraid to fall and get up nickering, eat with a gusto and get milk on your whiskers, and always be a friend.I almost forgot to mention, when Teatske was born, her legs were crooked, she couldn't stand very well. But that didn't change her outlook on life, you can't do anything unless you try. No one thought her legs would straighten. Noone thought she would run. Except me. And her. She ran. I learned a lot from that filly. But she has left us. the fire in her eyes was clouded with pain, the night in the field she shattered her shoulder that could not be repaired. A month before her first birthday, she was put to sleep. I will never see her race the fields again, or play with her in the fields of daisies. She is gone. I will never forget the things she taught me. She was my best friend -Michelle
