From the wild blue yonder he speaks!

by Steven Scougall

Greetings all. This is just to say I am safe and hearty in the lovely and currently very rainy tiny island republic of Mauritius.

SARS, a certain strain of pneumonia that you might have heard of, decided not to affect me or my aunt as we passed through Singapore, for which we are grateful. However, it has scuppered our original travel plans. It is now looking like we're going to Johannesburg, then Singapore, then back to Australia, in a 30 hour (or so) odyssey of planes, trains, and auto- oh, wait, just planes.

As to how Mauritius is, it is much the same as it was the last time I was here. Not a bad place for a holiday. The beaches are tres nice, the snorkeling is equally good, especially on sunny days, and the language is still French. Well, Creole as the locals call it, but that's obviously a French-based creole.

In further news, I have reaffirmed that me and markets do not mix.

More news as it comes.
