2) I think the location will not be Foothills (track is #1) or Burns (baseball #1) or Mewata (X-Games #1). I think it's likely Glenmore or some other athletic usage area already. While Fire Park is great, that land is just too valuable to be part of this type of bid. It's the ideal location, but I can't see it.
3) I somehow don't think they are pulling out the stops, but they are making some effort.
4) If the soccer assocations are involved, I suspect they will be looking for a soccer-only venue.
Hopefully they make an honest attempt. As I see it, Montreal and Vancouver are shoo-ins, Ottawa is likely, and the last spot may well be Winnipeg/Victoria/Calgary. I think they have a cnace to get it if they put in an effort.
