Same look on my 78 Paul

Here is a pic I just took out in the garage:



Although it is black, you can still see the rippled area just below the top of the tower. Probably a brushed on seam sealer.

In general that X doesn't look too bad. The rust around the windshield is depressing. That a lead to other issues if it isn't taken care of. Looks like it has a header and a quad tipped Ansa exhaust. Did you get too drive it or test out any of the mechanicals?
