I converted my fuel tank for FI (all UK cars are carbed). I just inserted a 12 mm pipe near the bottom of the tank, similar to the factory FI tank. Then I fitted the Uno Turbo fuel pump in approximately the same location as the factory FI layout, with a pre-filter. I used the original 8 mm carbed fuel feed line as my new FI return line.
As you are at least on the right side of the pond, sourcing a FI tank should be straightforward. I think you are over-complicating your fuel system a bit Tony, but seeing your passion and talent for fabrication, who am I to comment!
