Brass nuts

Response to My real purpose in asking was really this... Because the nuts are made of brass...
Well, my general engineering experience tells me that brass nuts will not seize on steel bolts. I think it is a common practice on naval equipment.
No, I don't know of any locking action of brass. You would still better use two nuts.
