Response to You have an easy job ahead of you... 74-78 the same.

Yes, it is indeed way easier at the pedal. I pulled the cotter pin, fed the cable through, hooked the eye up the pedal, new cotter pin, no problem at all... I was starting to feel good about this. And I'm glad to hear that I'm not stone crazy, the 74-78 cars are different, and the best-of thread was not about them

But...

Right now I'm trying to get the end of the sheath into the end of the solid tube. The nose of the metal fitting on the end of the new sheath obstinately won't quite fit into the tube. The fitting from the old sheath measures 5.5 mm OD and is just a skosh loose; the new fitting mikes out at 6.0 mm OD and won't quite go in.

Aaargh. Aargh. Aargh.

I am going to drink several bottles of cold beer and forget about it until tomorrow AM. If it comes to it, I can improvise something with a choke-cable sheath.
