commuting as much as 45 minute each way,5 days a week.I got stranded 4 times in 17 years.Twice by my 2nd X that broke camshafts regularly until I figured out that the head had warped for a PO and he'd had it cut without straightening it...when bolted down it bent the cam slightly with each rev.(that car was a wreckers auction purchase for $75)
Once by a flat tire that fixaflat wouldn't handle,once(actually several times in in one day,but same problem)when I put a relay in the ignition system (to bypass the battery under full throttle (I know,not so smart)the relay would overheat and open.All other failure were side of the road fixable at least to "limp home" level.
I think X's need daily driving to be happiest...
