Windshield wipers

October 14 2008 at 9:20 AM

When I gave my x a bath over the weekend I noticed that the windshield wiper rubber bits were beginning to crack. Instead of just going out and getting a set of Anco refills I thought I'd upgrade to a set of the new "beam-blade" style wipers (ie Bosch ICON, Anco Contour, Valeo Ultimate, & etc..) When I do my research I'm unable to find any wiper blades of this type that say that they will fit a X1/9 but I've got to believe that there's one available that would work. Has anyone fitted this type of wiper blade? What kind did you use? How do they work (and how do they look)??

thanks - dj

Someone claims they do some for the X here in the UK, whether they've tested this application, or just checked sizes and mounting types to a cross reference chart is hard to say!

I do think they'd look a bit strange and out of place on the X though. (I hope the manufacturers don't stop making the older type).

I got tired of the old style ones working like crap and bought a set o9ne size up from that recomended for the X. I think they were 16 inch. They are the best working wiper blades I've had on a X.

You're correct, they do look a little silly but you get used to them.
