deeper into the woods

Jenna went deeper into the woods, with Baskin's help. She was looking for a certain tree...

She found it, deeper into the woods. It was shorter than the ones around it, and it's trunk was twisted and bent a little to allow a small ledge perfect fora cat to sit on while contemplating. This was a peaceful place, to her, and this seemed a good place to have the kittens. There were plenty of soft needles on the ground. She asked Baskin to gather some up to make a mound.

so now what?

Baskin complied, making a small bed she could rest on, and helped her onto it. He tried to make sure she was comfortable, and then just stood there, looking at her.

"So now what? Would you like me to go get your mother?"

no!

Her eyes flashed at his question. "No!" She answered, vehemently. "Didn't I tell you? The Jellicle Ball is special, and I don't want to interrupt it. For anyone."

shhh

May 19 2003, 7:19 AM

"Shhh..." He moved next to her and started rubbing her back again. "It's okay. I won't go get your mother."

He, on the other hand, wanted Sillabub there very badly. If Jenna's mother had come through with two healthy litters of kittens, then he thought she could bring his mate through her first litter just as safely. And Jenna was acting strange. Maybe it was the kittens?

quiet

Jenna quieted down and closed her eyes, enjoying the rubbing and waiting for the feeling in her abdomen to get stronger again.

He still wished Jenna would let him go for her mother. He had to laugh at himself... back in the city, no queen could hold a tom back like this. He continued to rub her back and wait.

The cat had steathly crept behind to see what was happening with those two. The hiding place they had almost seen, having walked right by it. But they were too engrossed in what was happening, and this is not what the cat had come for. Leaving them to their privacy, the cat returned to it's hiding place to watch and wait.

She had been resting for a little while, but now she opened her eyes and looked around. The woods seemed more forbidding. The birth was a lot closer, she was alone in the woods with Baskin... alone? What was she thinking? She needed someone here who knew what they were doing. Someone... her mother? She regretted telling Baskin not to get her, and wondered if he would now.

"Baskin?" She said, turning to look at him. "Will you go get my mother?"

He looked at her, relieved. Of course he would get her mother for her... but how could he leave her here alone?

"I don't want to leave you here alone, Jenna."

"Please?" She said to him, turning her green eyes on him. "I was foolish before, but I need her here. Now."

Now that the kittens were really coming, Jenna was downright scared. She wanted her mother.. and she was sure she could put up with ten minutes alone to get her here.

alone is not good

May 24 2003, 7:20 PM

'Some tom I am, leaving her here like this... but what else can I do?' He thought to himself, but one look at her pleading eyes and he knew he had to.

"All right, Jenna." He relented, and quickly made a bed of leaves further underneath the bush. "Just stay under the bush until I get back." He helped her underneath the bush, and made sure she would be comfortable until he got back.

"I'll find her as quickly as I can." And he dashed through the woods, heading for the junkyard, the ball, and the help he needed.

Daien followed Baskin and his own potential mate to be back to the area in the woods looking about. "Where is Jenna?" He asked still moving quietly.

Kaileigh followed them, but stopped short when she saw her sister... having the kittens! This was what she needed help with? Kaileigh had no experience.

Jenna looked up as Baskin returned. With two cats? Her sister and her sister's mate. She didn't mind, she needed all the help she could get... but did Daien really want to be here? She was a little embarrased. She only knew him through her sister. "Uh... hi."

He waved a paw in greeting. "Hello there." He greeted and walked over a bit more. "I do hope we are not intruding but your mate did inform us you where in need of assistance and it does seem so."
