in the 16th century Northern Atlantic Right Whales were whaled by stupid whaling bastards until only 300 remained. since then, the haven't been able to restore anywhere near their previous population of 20,000.
the expected number of baby right whales being born is about 30 a year, but for the last 20 years only 10-11 are actually being born.
a geneticist studied the DNA of 80% of the right whale population and discovered that the genes of these whales went back to only five different females. because only 300 whales remained after whaling, right whales are so massively inbred that this is the cause of such low reproduction and means they a vunerale to disease and miscarriage.
every indication suggests that in 100-200 years, northern atlantic right whales may cease to exist.
for northern altlantic right whales the damage has been done. do you want to see this happen to all the whales on our planet??
they say human beings are the most intelligent life forms on this planet. bullshit. if we are as intelligent as they say, then why are we so stupid as to harm these beautiful creatures to the point of extiction?
there is no way we can have “controlled” whaling. if we let the japanese bastard whalers go out and hunt these beautiful creatures for so-called “research”, surely there will be others ot there that will think it is okay and will go out there to hunt them as well.

The Fisheries Agency of Japan (FAJ) intends to further escalate its whaling activities by targeting a new species - sei whales - in the North Pacific. Sei
whales in the North Pacific were heavily exploited in the last century and are now classified as an endangered species by the International Union for the
Conservation of Nature. The FAJ is also planning to take a further 50 minke whales as part of this so-called 'scientific' programme.
The annual take for the North Pacific will now total 260 whales - 150 minke whales, 50 Bryde's whales, 10 sperm whales and 50 sei whales. This is in addition to the 440 minke whales taken each year in the Antarctic. The meat from both the North Pacific and Antarctic 'research' programmes is openly sold on the Japanese market.
The stated aim of the FAJ's 'scientific' whaling programme in the North Pacific however is 'to collect data on the competition between whales and fisheries'.
This is absurd. Over fishing by humans is to blame for declines in fish stocks worldwide, and we cannot ignore the fact that in the past, before industrial
fishing began, the oceans supported large populations of both fish and whales.
