In response to your query, I put a 1 after the 31 because of the design of the retrograde mechanism and as the hand moves from the 31st in preparation to it’s return to the 1st it is suspended in ‘no man’s land’ for approximately 20 minutes. George Daniels did the same with his retrograde hour pocket watches and I thought it would be a nice touch.
