After reading the JLC attempt to use 8 photographers to make a book...I cannot but announce the books by Ulysse Nardin, and Vianney&Dufour.
Unlike any other book, the Vianney and Dufour 360 page book is a pure pictorial essay, 100% narrative style, as it brings you thru both ateliers...color and BW.
The unique thing is, like the Ulysse Nardin book...100% no censorship, no posing, no change of clothes, no rearranging or furniture or tools, no lighting set ups...etc etc
Most importantly...the writer/photographers are not paid...just a work of passion.
What you see...is what you get to see if no one is expecting you to "drop in".
No white coats...who wears those things? Except when the press comes?
Dirty finger nails from grease.
Damaged bridges and scratched crystals ( thrown away of course).
Tissue papers on the tables.
Actual watch assembly, with eleven fingers.
And so on....
