Hi,

The following article is written by Grahame Brooks and was published in the BHI's Horological Journal, April 2002. With the kind permission of Mr. Brooks, the BHI, David Penney, Jeff Wilkinson and the blessing of Roger Smith, we are pleased to offer this article to ThePuristS.com community and give a hearty thanks to those mentioned above.

Roger Smith has been mentioned here in the past as one of the new guard of watchmakers. I have had the pleasure of meeting Roger on two occasions and can say he is a most modest and gifted person. His great talents as a watchmaker are obvious.

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Curtis

Dear Curtis,

I am writing to thank you for presenting the BHI,s Horological Journal article about myself on your excellent web site. I hope it is of interest to your readers.

I feel I should mention that since the publication of the article I have made some necessary alterations to the wrist watch. The proportions of the hands have been improved and more curves have been introduced to the case design.

I am pleased to see that your website is giving the independant watchmaker a valuable and welcome platform and look forward to reading future articles.

Yours Sincerely,

Roger Smith

Hi Roger,

Thanks for taking the time to join us here. I know your schedule is extremely busy but, when time allows, would you share some pictures of the improvements made to the wristwatch?

It is the intent of these pages to provide exposure for the artist-craftsman and to offer a platform and channel for the watchmaker to communicate their work and philosophy in real time.

I am pleased you enjoyed the site and hope you find the time to join the conversation from time to time.

If I can assist you in any manner please feel free to email me.

Cheers,

Curtis
